Follow these steps to unenroll from school.

Use the letter below as a template. Be sure to send one letter per child.

Be sure to mail the letter certified, return receipt so you have proof the school received your letter.

If your child has an IEP please read about withdrawing with an IEP and follow the steps

If the school asks you for anything further, such as signing their withdrawal form, ask for their request to be made in writing. Then contact MHA or HSLDA for further instructions.

Missouri law, RSMO 167.042 states that it is OPTIONAL for a parent to sign a Written Declaration of Enrollment. If the school asks you to sign one, know that you do not have to.

This letter is to notify you that I am withdrawing my child, CHILD NAME, from enrollment at your school, SCHOOL NAME, effective the date of this correspondence, and we will be pursuing other education options pursuant to RSMo 167.031.
This letter releases SCHOOL DISTRICT NAME from any responsibility related to my child(ren)'s education or statutory truancy investigations. In addition, the District may not include my child(ren) as listed above as part of a count for the purposes of obtaining state or federal funding.
Furthermore, this letter is not to be construed as a voluntary Declaration of Enrollment as pursuant to RSMo 167.042. Such a declaration is optional under said statute. Since it is not a legal requirement to sign such a statement, I will not be doing so. This letter fulfills my legal obligation to notify the District of withdrawal.
